Happy, Happy Birthday Sussy, Dear!

Happy Birthday, Little Sussy! Today you are 4 years old and I can barely believe I've been blogging so long.

To all my Readers:

I love you.
Really, I do.

Sometimes I get the lump when I think how good you are to me. How can I ever repay you? I really can't.

BUT, if you'll leave a comment by Wed at midnight telling me how long you've been reading and what your favorite ALS posts are, you'll be entered for a unique giveaway: I'll be choosing 10 readers to choose any photograph print of mine to keep. (you can choose the size, too... up to 8x10.)

    HAPPY HAPPY DAY! Thank you for sharing your little sussies with us for the last 4 years! You are the only other person besides my mother & grandmother that I've ever heard use the term sussy. They've regularly treated me to many fun little sussies over the years! I found you very VERY early on (I want to say I've been reading since the beginning) and you've been one of my no.1 fav blogs since the very beginning! :) I can't really pick a favorite post! But I have to say I LOVE your photos. They keep me coming back. Your effortless, beautiful style is so clean and happy to me! :)

    I've been reading ever since you were first featured in UV Magazine, whenever that was! My favorite post was the one when Adam gave you rhododendrons. I have always loved them but didn't know what they were called, and I was desperately trying to figure out the name so I could recommend them to my sister for her wedding. And then, there they were, right on your blog! It was too perfect.

    I started reading when my cousin forward me your post on Art Weekend in SF 2009. Since the classes were already full, I browsed your blog and found out you had photography classes. I loved your "how not to take an engagement photo" post (that probably wasn't the exact title), because it conveyed both your photography skill and standards, as well as your fun teaching style--you know what makes a photograph great (or terrible) and how to help people understand that.     Hi Nicole! Happy Birthday ALS! I have been following for nearly 3 years now- I find your blog so inspiring. The post that has had a HUGE impact on my life was the "What's In My Camera Bag"/ Good, Better, Best" post.     hard to say but I think i've been reading for a little over three years now! i actually found your blog while doing a study abroad in jerusalem and trying to stay connected with friends and family back home through the blogging world! there are so many favorites but two that stick out are the flowery shoot you did with the beautiful girls and the one where you dumped stuff on people! both were very fun and lovely for different reasons!

    I have been reading your blog since a friend referred me to your site about two and a half years ago. I was so excited to take two of your last classes before you moved! I love all of your posts, but one that has "haunted" me is one that you did about these beautiful books with covers illustrated by coralie bickford-smith. I wanted them so badly but decided to buy them one book at a time. I never got around to buying any for myself, but my mother-in-law gave me 5 for Christmas and they look beautiful in my living room.     I absolutly love your blog and your creativity. I found you in the Utah Valley Magazine when they did the article on you about 2 years ago I think. I check your blog daily.     I began reading sussy pretty near your start date and it's always brought a smile or sparkle to my day! My favorite post was of your "kelsey nixon + robby egan" wedding shoot. The way you captured that day gave me a coveted glimpse of my own (hopefully sooner than later :) and I have saved the link and treasured it ever since.
    I don't know much about photography but the details, lighting and subject...everything you have in your pictures sends a sunbeam through my soul and literally brightens my life! Your style and personality shows through your writing, pictures, and whatever you highlight. Thanks for sharing!

    Some favorites---Garden Shoot and the road trip have some of my favorite pictures. I also really liked the mock engagements and your sister in the giant flower headbands....and when she did "make-up" girl.

    Hmmmmm probably 3.5 years? Can't pick a favorite post, but I loved the childrens party with the colorful jones soda, the one of someones house (descriptive I know) and the weddings. It's all beautiful!
