Happy Birthday, Little Sussy! Today you are 4 years old and I can barely believe I've been blogging so long.
To all my Readers:
I love you.
Really, I do.
Sometimes I get the lump when I think how good you are to me. How can I ever repay you? I really can't.
BUT, if you'll leave a comment by Wed at midnight telling me how long you've been reading and what your favorite ALS posts are, you'll be entered for a unique giveaway: I'll be choosing 10 readers to choose any photograph print of mine to keep. (you can choose the size, too... up to 8x10.)
And if you hate my photos, that's fine.. don't comment. I love you anyway.
Here are some examples of what you could choose:

ReplyDeleteHAPPY HAPPY DAY! Thank you for sharing your little sussies with us for the last 4 years! You are the only other person besides my mother & grandmother that I've ever heard use the term sussy. They've regularly treated me to many fun little sussies over the years! I found you very VERY early on (I want to say I've been reading since the beginning) and you've been one of my no.1 fav blogs since the very beginning! :) I can't really pick a favorite post! But I have to say I LOVE your photos. They keep me coming back. Your effortless, beautiful style is so clean and happy to me! :)
ReplyDeleteI've been reading ever since you were first featured in UV Magazine, whenever that was! My favorite post was the one when Adam gave you rhododendrons. I have always loved them but didn't know what they were called, and I was desperately trying to figure out the name so I could recommend them to my sister for her wedding. And then, there they were, right on your blog! It was too perfect.
ReplyDeleteNo idea how I found your blog. It's been in my reader for at least 2 years.
ReplyDeletePs - I love the carousel and peonies above - I'm envisioning them in my house right now!
I just started reading when I discovered (and am now taking) your photo 101 course. I'd love to have any of your photos, hopefully one day I can take pictures as beautiful as yours!
ReplyDeleteHappy Bloggy Birthday! I've been following your blog for at least a couple of years, now. I really enjoy your posts that feature photos of food you've made. There don't seem to near enough. I'm totally inspired by your photography and the fact that you are a trained chef, too. (you are, right?)

ReplyDeleteI never read a blog until A Little Sussy in 2007/8 when I was lonely during our first year in France! My favorite posts are the ones when I learn new things about photography, but my favorite one was when I learned that you were coming to photograph us in Mougins! I've been reading for about 2 years. I loved your "how not to take an engagement photo" post (that probably wasn't the exact title), because it conveyed both your photography skill and standards, as well as your fun teaching style--you know what makes a photograph great (or terrible) and how to help people understand that. I think your readers appreciate the honesty and humor. I know I do!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your lovely blog posts! I've been reading for two-and-a-half-ish years, and my favorite posts are anything with food in them or the party photography (thanks for pointing me towards One Charming Party, too!).
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your life with us! I've been reading for about 2 years. I love the peeks into your life that you give: family, friends, apartment, etc. That's my favorite. Though any photography tips have definitely been worth it too. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteHey Nicole,
ReplyDeleteI have been reading A Little Sussy ever since I saw a link to it on Melissa Sam's blog...oh...in late 2006? All I know is I only had two kids then and now I four!

Congrats on four years!
I've been reading through an RSS about... oh... six months?
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole! Happy Birthday ALS! I have been following for nearly 3 years now- I find your blog so inspiring. The post that has had a HUGE impact on my life was the "What's In My Camera Bag"/ Good, Better, Best" post. It was with your recommendations that I bought my very first DSLR & signed up for Photo 101. As a mom with young kids, photography has become an outlet- a way for me to tap into myself & my creativity. So thank you for that. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been reading for almost 2 years and I love it when you post old pictures of your family. So fun.
ReplyDeleteI started reading about 2 years ago> I lvoe all your beautiful pictures my favorite shoot was a road trip with a big silver trailer...loved it

ReplyDeleteI LOVE your blog and your classes. I start out my morning everyday with your blog. Its been 2 plus years that I have been following your blog. I am a big fan of how you photograph. Its classy and not trendy. I love all your tabletop photgraphs and weddings.
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog since a friend referred me to your site about two and a half years ago. I was so excited to take two of your last classes before you moved! I love all of your posts, but one that has "haunted" me is one that you did about these beautiful books with covers illustrated by coralie bickford-smith. I wanted them so badly but decided to buy them one book at a time. I never got around to buying any for myself, but my mother-in-law gave me 5 for Christmas and they look beautiful in my living room. Thanks for the great blog and all of the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading for about six months. I found you through MIM. My favorite is any of your photos of food because it includes two of my great loves--photography and food.
ReplyDeleteTeresa

I love all of your photographs - they are timeless. And I love the posts you do every once in a while that highlight a fellow photographer; they inspire me :)

Now that I'm expecting my first baby, I'm loving the darling things for your sweet Evie that you've been posting. I about died over the rattles and the mobile you posted yesterday. ReplyDeleteI guess I'm more of a newbie, been ready for the last several months. Does it count for longer if I looked at a lot of your previous posts? Or is that more along the lines of stalking? Oh how you've grown. Although I love the photography, I love your links to random jewelry you find.. and now baby stuff. Wahoo! Happy Birfday.

ReplyDeleteI began reading sussy pretty near your start date and it's always brought a smile or sparkle to my day! My favorite post was of your "kelsey nixon + robby egan" wedding shoot. The way you captured that day gave me a coveted glimpse of my own (hopefully sooner than later :) and I have saved the link and treasured it ever since.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about photography but the details, lighting and subject...everything you have in your pictures sends a sunbeam through my soul and literally brightens my life! Your style and personality shows through your writing, pictures, and whatever you highlight. Thanks for sharing!
p.s. I went to elementary school with Nina :)

ReplyDeletenicole, i think i've been reading for close to 3 1/2 years...i saw it a few months before we all went to the dirtbike race when you were dating Adam. i was so amazed you were the same un-assuming girl that i met, who happened to have this incredible blog. my favorite part of ALS is seeing all the fun things you find and share. i ADORE your photos as well and get pretty envious of your talent. you're uber-talented in so many areas, if you weren't so darn nice, i'd be totally jealous of you! xoxo, shannon
