Let's kick off the new year with the first giveaway of my book, Photo 101: The Book. Please leave a comment here with one of your new year's resolutions for a chance to win!
Deadline: Sunday at midnight, winner announced Monday!
oh pretty please pick me! if i had to choose just one resolution, it would be to be a mary rather than the martha i tend to be; i need more focus on choosing the better part.
I'm an aspiring photographer. I just landed my first canon dslr. I found your website through a friend a few weeks ago and I have been eyeing your book ever since then.
I had to be realistic with my resolutions this year. For this semester I came up with a goal I knew i could accomplish...read one book (non-fiction) by the end of the semester.
Oh, oh! Pick me! Pick me! I have resolved to be healthy. First thing to have changed was no more eating after 8:00 (with a bedtime no later than 11:00). So far, so good!
My favorite resolution is to re-invest in the musical talents I used to cultivate so much. Just this week, I scheduled an audition for a Portland-area classical vocal chorus!
Less blog reading and more blogging. When I find a few minutes to spare, I'd much rather read someone else's stories than post my own. But I feel so compelled to give back!
oh! I really really want your book! You are an inspiration!
One of my new year goals is to get my new photography business legit! tax, insurance, finances... all my ducks in a row, so I can shoot with passion and sound mind.
ohh i would love the chance to win your book!! one of my resolutions is to be a more hands on mom. more time sitting on the floor playing and less time worrying about how clean the house is. he will only be this young for so long! i gotta live up my time with him!
My daughter is a film major graduate, and loves doing photography also. she has a great camera, but doesn't know all the tricks to use it to it's fullest capabilities. I think this book would help her out quite a bit.
One of the sites your recommend a while ago is now one of my favorites. The author posted about her word resolutions. My resolution is the word Gratitude. Throughout this year I wish to be more grateful for the lovely things in my life, for example, my piano (learn to play better)and my camera. I love taking photos of my children and am aching to increase my knowledge of everything the camera is capable of. I think to increase abilities and knowledge is showing Gratitude for them.
one of my resolutions is to stop using google reader from my phone and more from my computer so I can enjoy the pictures more and leave more comments. Look at me fulfilling my goal already!
My goals for the year are to grow my photography business, get better at belly dancing and the most important one is to spend more time with my family.
Not to wear my hair in a pony tail every day of the week. What can i say Mean Girls inspired me ;) Its amazing what just letting your hair out loose can do to your vavoom factor!
I've gotten a little lazy with myself, so the resolution is to put on lipstick and at least one piece of jewelry other than my wedding ring when I walk out the door.
Ooo! I love this! One of my resolutions is to "be more selfless." I'm really trying to focus on others (strangers as well as those I'm close to). I've already signed up to volunteer once a month and I'd like to continue to do extra chores around the house to help out family members.
my new years resolution is find something that i love to do. other people have things they love: running, scrapbooking, etc... but i haven't found mine yet.
Oh I would love this! I'll buy it regardless, but it would be nice to be a winner. One of my resolutions for the new year is to organize my time better so that I can be more in the moment with my daughter.
My resolution is to be myself and be confident in it. No reason to try to be anyone else. I'm learning to love myself despite all my weaknesses, and this will improve all the other things in life.
I'm nor just saying this because you're giving away this book. It really is on my list. My resolution/goal is to learn to use my husband's old DSLR. He upgraded from the Nikon D80 to the D90 and gave me the 80. I've been looking at the manual and playing with it but I need all the help I can get!
My New Years Resolution is to master my camera. he is complex. big. and has a lot of little numbers on his screen! :) (that is why your book would be helpful!)
I don't really do resolutions in January... I tend to start them when my kids start school in the fall. But, I do choose a word of the year every January 1st. My word for 2010 is HOPE.
one thing i'm working on this year is a 365 day project. one photo a day for every day in 2010. yikes! i'm trying to improve my photography skills, and this book would be a great help with that!
showering daily. just kiiiding. i'm totally kidding. i thought it'd be funny because of natalie's whole personal hygiene saga that she had with the mommies.
i'd have to say... cutting off diet coke completely. it's an ambitious one.. but i'm gonna stick to it.
My resolution is to become a better photographer, so I would LOVE this book. I also am waiting for you to come teach Photo 101 in Orem again! Can't wait!
My new years resolution is to be more active, to really enjoy the great outdoors. Utah is the prettiest state ever, I should take advantage of where I live!
i would LOVE your book bc it would help me with my new years resolution:
to reinvent myself.
let me explain: i've been unemployed humming and finger drumming the next steps to get back on track when i realized that back on track is the last place i want to be!
so...with this new year i'm committing to reinventing myself, which includes learning about photography. something i've always admired from afar, but never was brave enough to take the first steps.
hmmm.... I have 3 children and a wonderful husband. I tell them I love them every day. My resolution is: no matter how hard, to tell MYSELF that I love ME every day. Maybe by just taking a longer shower, making myself go to the gym, or just looking in the mirror and saying it to the person staring back :)
One of my New Year Resolutions is to learn about photography and take a picture a day to track my progress! I would love to win this book because it would sure help me!
Looks like a great book. Resolutions? i.e. goals; I want to take better pictures, learn how to use photoshop and post the ones I'm proud of to my blog.

i resolve to take a picture of something beautiful or that inspires me every day. this will 1) make me practice using my dslr, and 2) make me slow down to appreciate how much beauty there is around me!
I chose a word for the year instead of a list of resolutions. SERVE. In all capacity, serve others. Serve my husband as the best wife I can be, my kids as the best mom (and teacher) I can. Serve my church in any way possible, serve my community, my family...SERVE. It is going to be an exciting year!
I want to be better at attending the temple more often. I live in Provo 5 minutes from the temple and I only go once every month or two! I know I can do better.
I don't tend to make resolutions but seriously this year has to be better than last. I guess I should say scrapbook more which means take more (usable) photos. I should have made myself do a 365 project but hell I'm already too late for that. Guess I'm not too late for a 52 week project though!
One of my resolutions is to take more pictures of Marshall. We bought a Nikon last year just for that, and I failed miserably at documenting anything but work last year.
oh wow! i would LOVE to own your book because my resolution is to take more pictures with my new camera...and learn how to do it properly! i'm loving your photography, but i need to practice up a bit on mine. :) thank you, ms. nicole!
I find myself in constant planning mode, thoughts continually running through a checklist — from the little "to-do's" to the big future plans — and because of that, sometimes I simply miss the experience that is happening right before me.
I think I'm the first to comment! A resolution of mine is to recycle more!

I resolve to learn how to take better pictures (with the help of your book!)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for a chance to win this!
ReplyDelete(One of) my New Year's resolutions is to be more present, instead of being constantly preoccupied with the dozens of things going on in my life.
my resolution is to do daily personal and family scripture study and prayer.
ReplyDeleteTo truly let life unfold instead of trying to control it.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to deep clean my house more often.
ReplyDeletewould love this!! a resolution of mine is to actually learn more about photography instead of just guessing! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLive in the moment!
ReplyDeleteI find myself in constant planning mode, thoughts continually running through a checklist — from the little "to-do's" to the big future plans — and because of that, sometimes I simply miss the experience that is happening right before me.
I think that if I can really take the time to turn that internal dialog off, I can truly connect with that moment and the people around me... becoming a better fiancé, friend, sister, daughter, coworker, aunt and potentially, photographer. :)
One of my biggest resolutions this year is to pay off my car so I don't have extra debt.
