'tis the season

for buying maternity clothes --but after lots of searching, i'm not finding anything great that isn't overpriced... so yesterday, I went to anthropologie and picked up some great tops on sale that will work through my 2nd tri and (wahoo) i will definitely wear post-baby.

  1. I bought a bunch of maternity clothes for my first baby and when I look at them now I cringe. This time (my third) I shopped the J.Crew sales. The new slouchy, spacy shirts are perfect for second trimester. But to be honest, by my 8th month, nothing but sweats and my husbands t-shirts fit anymore. So you may have to break down and buy a few real maternity things at the end. :)

  2. for basics shadeclothing.com maternity items are the best. I mean they're nothing fancy...but so comfortable and good quality. I'd pick up a few.

  3. First of all, congratulations! I guess I was out of town when you made the announcement, so I was very excited to see this post today.

Now, about maternity clothes... anthropologie was great!!! I actually got stuff there throughout my whole pregnancy. Some of it I just bought in bigger sizes, but I found things that worked for after too. I wore a lot of maternity plain tshirts with non maternity anthro cardigans and maternity jeans. Although the shirts and jean don't work now, I can still wear the cardigans. Also, you probably know about this but have you discovered the bella band... that was great for my 1st and 2nd trimesters (while my legs still fit into my prematernity jeans... unlike my 3rd!) and after I had Eleanor too.

    Congratulations again!!!

  5. Somehow I missed your announcement post! But I just wanted to say CONGRATS! I can't wait to see all the gorgeous photos you'll be taking of the little one.

    Don't work too hard!

  6. Congrats!

My two cents is that if you plan on nursing, you might consider getting tops that serve double-duty (maternity AND nursing). I found some plain nursing tops on the gap maternity website and they worked well. Not exactly stylish but help when you're stuck at the grocery store bathroom trying to nurse...

  7. Target has a great Liz Lange maternity line for all the basics. Get a couple tanks for 3rd tri, and yes, to the post above...JCrew long tee-shirts and flowy tops work well...until the end :) I'm 33 weeks and really depending on maxi dresses at this point. Good luck and congrats! OH and get the Bella Band. Will help you wear your regular pants much longer.
