i totally do, too! it's more like this though. i buy what i need, but if there is a choice between different brands, i usually buy the one that looks better. it's so silly, but i like things to look good, no matter what it is.
my husband says if its just shiny, or trinkety or funky enough. I buy it. Guilty as charged. P.S. I love the pic of you at Molly's party you should use it for your profile pic.
i too buy things that are prettier than their neighbor. nice to know we are in good company. i figure if they take the time to package it well they must have taken the time to make it better all around...at least that is what i keep telling myself.
Wine, I always choose wine by the label graphic and or bottle shape. ( all within a relative price range of course) The designs have gotten very competitive recently it's fun to browse the isles. heck it out.:)
i did the same things with this same product. it is nice packaging. so clean looking. i didn't really like the product actually, but i still catch myself looking at it at the store. maybe i'll give it another chance.
I am soo glad there are others that do! I feel silly sometimes paying more just b/c of the packaging, but I am a sucker for it through & through. great post Nicole!
Oh my gosh, of course I buy for the packaging or design of something just because it's beautiful. I get in way to much trouble, especially from the husband because of it. :)
Oh brother, do I buy for design! I hate to admit this, I definitely judge a book by its cover. Not people, but products. I'm a sucker for a good-lookin' product.
I do this all the time! Benefit cosmetics alwayssss pull me in. Fortunately, they're wonderful, and I'm not just buying a package. I'm always wanting to buy little knick-knacky things at Anthropologie based on their design too.
Definitely do this with wine.
ReplyDeleteSo far, so good.
I stand by the theory that someone who is able to discern a good package and quality graphic design can probably manage making a good product.

ReplyDeleteWhat is even worse is that I buy wine based on their labels pretty frequently. Surprisingly most are good.
ReplyDeletei am a complete floosy for slick marketing and good branding. i can't help myself.
ReplyDeletei think i like my consumer dollars to speak in the favor of companies that have good brand management. i have a problem. :)
Oh I'm totally a sucker for great packaging. Tiffany & Co. and their clever little blue box...that is all I have to say.
