Returning to Jazz

We had an early Valentine's day celebration on Saturday and went to see Stacey Kent in concert. I've been listening to her for 7 years and have been checking her tour schedule and nothing has ever aligned with mine -so I was thrilled to finally see her live. She has the most amazing quality and control to her voice that she can whisper sing clearly. (Does that even make sense? Probably not.) Anyway, I'm crazy for her Bossa Nova and french music and lucky me, her new album is entirely in French: Raconte-moi.

All this is my latest return to jazz music and Pandora is introducing me to many more great ones. Of course there are my favorite classics like Diana Krall, Eva Cassidy and Norah Jones... but also check out Melody Gardot... she's a new one for me. Who are your favorites I need to check out?

*update* how could I forget my favorite, Madeleine Peyroux!

  6. So glad you're on to Melody Gardot. Her story is incredible... she makes me cry everytime I listen to her knowing how much pain she's in. And her diction is mindblowingly good.
sounds like you loved the concert - I was so jealous! The stars did not align for me this time.

  14. I bet you would also like Karly Jurgensen!! She writes her music, plays it on the keyboard and sings her music as well. She is so awesome and just finished doing the Valentines Day weddings on top of the Empire State Building for The Knot. How cool is that!!!
