in response to my earlier post, here are my 15 favorite kitchen gadgets. culinary school taught me that you only need a chef's knife, so i don't like to buy every gadget -plus, i have no room. here are some i don't want to live without:
(aside from measuring cups, wooden spoons, whisks and measuring spoons)
1. kitchenaid stand mixer 2. glass prep bowls 3. straight rolling pin 4. garlic press 5. pepper mill 6. kitchenaid hand mixer 7. microplane grater 8. anything made with gold touch. 9. silpat 10. kitchenaid food processor 11. pastry brush 12. silicone spatulas 13. santoku knife 14. strainers 15. ss tongs
dear Santa,
ReplyDeletei would like everything on Nicole's kitchen gadget list for Christmas. Thanks,
Camilla
LOVE love the mixer, the microplane and the silpat. How I ever lived without these in the past is beyond me! And a few of those others are on my wish list.
ReplyDeletei am glad to see i use most of the things you recommend. i love that yellow pepper mill, i might have to look for that.
ReplyDeletegood list...all my faves too.
ReplyDeleteI love my flat rolling pin.
ReplyDeleteI am deeply embarrassed for entering your portrait challenge after your trend/style notes. However, thanks for posting them because hey, live and learn.
i love this!
ReplyDeletenot being a 'kitchen person' but needing to eat, and therefore cook, this is very handy.
thanks :)
Oh, your lovely collection is making me jealous!
ReplyDeleteI'm itching to get in the kitchen and bake.
:]
My boyfriend bought me a Kitchenaid stand mixer in Pear for my birthday last year and I literally cried of happiness.
They are so amazing!
I'm so impressed at your many talents, Nicole!
<3 Grace.
great list! My husband does most the cooking, embarrassing I know, but he was saying he would love a rocking knife, thanks.
ReplyDeleteThis may be a silly question, but why do chefs always use glass bowls opposed to metal or plastic? Just curious.
ReplyDeletehey steph..
ReplyDeletei use metal if i need to keep something cold or warm, but it's not safe to mix acidic things in metal bowls --that's why you use glass.

Great list! I agree, it's better to have a few quality things than a bunch of random gadgets. It's often easier to use the standard kitchen tools.
ReplyDeleteI love my silpat too! I have a bosch but am wanting a kitchen aid in a major way! Maybe Santa will be nice? Great list.
ReplyDeleteexcellent! i need a silpat though!
ReplyDeletethanks for this post!
